SINGAPORE. Open Gov Asia (10 March 2025) - At the 2025 Committee of Supply (COS) Debate, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) announced a series of AI initiatives to enhance the quality of life for Singaporeans, equipping workers with AI capabilities and boosting business productivity.

These initiatives align with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0 and Smart Nation 2.0 vision, reinforcing AI’s critical role in fostering inclusive growth, driving innovation and building trust in society. By prioritising accessibility, inclusivity and ethical AI deployment, the government aims to ensure that AI benefits every segment of society, from students and seniors to businesses of all sizes.

AI is reshaping how people live, work and interact. From smart assistants simplifying daily tasks to AI-powered services boosting efficiency, AI has become a fundamental part of daily life. As AI adoption accelerates, it is essential that all Singaporeans are equipped to use AI effectively, safely and responsibly.

To help citizens develop the necessary skills and understanding, the government introduced key initiatives. The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is enhancing its Digital Skills for Life (DSL) framework and partnering with organisations to offer new content and programmes on Generative AI (GenAI). These resources cover the fundamentals of GenAI, its risks and guidelines for safe usage in daily life.

The National Library Board (NLB) will launch experiential showcases across public libraries, providing firsthand experiences of how technologies like GenAI can enhance common activities. These showcases aim to generate enthusiasm about AI’s possibilities while fostering an understanding of its limitations and ethical considerations.

By engaging with these resources, Singaporeans will develop a deeper appreciation of AI’s capabilities and cultivate a culture of lifelong digital learning. Through these initiatives, the government encourages all citizens to embrace AI and the digital future with confidence.

AI is transforming the economy, changing the way businesses operate and jobs function. To ensure Singapore’s workforce remains competitive, workers need to develop the skills required to collaborate effectively with AI technologies. The government is committed to supporting workforce upskilling through targeted training programmes.

IMDA, in collaboration with SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), is expanding the SkillsFuture for Digital Workplace 2.0 (SFDW 2.0) under the updated Skills Framework for Infocomm Technology (ICT). This expansion will integrate AI and GenAI content, providing workers with hands-on experience in using AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency in the workplace.

This will ensure that professionals across various industries, from finance to healthcare, can leverage AI tools effectively to drive innovation and service excellence. By broadening access to AI training, Singaporeans will be better prepared to thrive in an AI-driven economy.

For businesses, AI adoption is key to improving productivity, maintaining competitiveness and unlocking new growth opportunities. To facilitate this, the government is rolling out structured guidance and targeted support initiatives to help enterprises integrate AI effectively.

IMDA is launching a GenAI Playbook for Enterprises, designed to assist businesses at different levels of digital maturity in leveraging AI confidently to drive productivity and expansion. To further support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), IMDA is introducing the GenAI Navigator, a tool that recommends pre-approved GenAI solutions tailored to specific business needs.

These solutions come with grant support to encourage adoption. Both the GenAI Playbook and the GenAI Navigator will be accessible through the CTO-as-a-Service platform, ensuring businesses have the necessary guidance to reduce barriers to AI adoption and stay competitive in an AI-powered landscape.

By leveraging these initiatives, businesses can streamline operations, enhance customer experiences and explore new revenue streams in an increasingly digital economy.

With these initiatives, Singapore is shaping an AI-driven future where individuals, workers and businesses can thrive. By advancing AI literacy, workforce skills and business adoption, the government is fostering a digitally inclusive, competitive economy.
