Description

This review examines the development made by countries in the Asia-Pacific in growing their TVET systems since the Third International Congress on TVET (Shanghai, 2012). The focal point to this review is on the relevance of TVET. It is based on a survey conducted among ministries, employers and youth organisations in the Asia-Pacific region. The survey questions revolve around 5 key aspects of TVET relevance:

  1. Responsiveness to skill needs;
  2. ‘Greening’ TVET;
  3. Responsiveness to technological changes;
  4. Adapting qualifications; and
  5. Partnership/cooperation

In addition, the survey focuses on how countries are implementing these aspects into their national TVET development. This review provides findings and offers suggestions which provide insights into recent progression in TVET in the region.
