This study endorses the use of development cooperation activities to promote gender equality in labour markets and to address the multiple disadvantages that confront women. It offers examples of successful approaches, concrete measures and country-specific case studies on gender-sensitive economic and employment policy frameworks and access to and skilling for decent work. It highlights the importance of undertaking a gender analysis and stakeholder consultation before the start of any work project. Finally, it presents a GIZ-toolbox on “Promoting equal participation in sustainable economic development” that emphasises the use of a) Financial systems development b) Private sector development and economic policies, and c) TVET and labour markets for achieving gender equality in the workplace.
