Increase TVET integration and Enhance TVET Quality assurance in the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework
Since its introduction in 2013, the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework (AQAF) has served as a common reference for quality assurance agencies and institutions of higher education and lifelong learning of the ASEAN region as they strive towards harmonisation amidst the diversity of education systems, cultures and traditions.
Recognising the role of TVET as an element of ASEAN systems of education and lifelong-learning and for meeting the demand for skilled labour in ASEAN member states, the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) has devoted increasing attention to the topic of quality assurance of TVET – taking note also of TVET as a part of higher education.
Since 2017, AQAN has partnered with the German government’s Regional Cooperation Programme for TVET in ASEAN (RECOTVET) in the work of an internal task force and in events including the 2019 Regional Policy Dialogue “Advancing the quality of TVET in ASEAN – the practice of quality development and quality assurance”.
Recognising the central role of the AQAF for the benchmarking of quality assurance systems of higher education and lifelong learning, AQAN and RECOTVET joined forced to assess how quality assurance of TVET could be better integrated in the AQAF.
Today AQAN and RECOTVET are pleased to publish the report “Increase TVET integration and Enhance TVET quality assurance in the ASEAN Quality Assurance Framework”, written by Prof. Zita Mohd Fahmi, as an important step to broaden the reach of the AQAF and foster the regional harmonisation of quality assurance of TVET.
