Description

Myanmar is currently undergoing rapid transformation after decades of isolation. The country’s labour market is striving to cope with this sudden change and emerging opportunities and difficulties. This report, which is the result of a collaboration between four organizations, discusses the findings from the enterprise survey and shines a light on the challenges faced by workers and employers as they collectively attempt to improve productivity and industrial relations. It provides insights into the current human resource management practices and the views and perceptions of employers on issues such as labour relations and labour market dynamics. Findings are based on a sample of food processing and garment enterprises and may not necessarily apply equally to other sectors of Myanmar’s economy.
