Description

This report introduces the highlights of the 2012 School-to-work Transition Survey (SWTS) implemented in Cambodia by the National Institute of Statistics (NIS), Ministry of Planning in collaboration with the “Work4Youth” program of the MasterCard Foundation.

In Cambodia, youth unemployment is not as much of a concern as is the quality of work available. Low-productive employment among youth negatively affects the economic prospects of the country. To this end, the report discusses questions concerning the process of transition from school to work for young people in the prevalent labour market scenario. It shines a light on the national framework guiding youth employment, discusses policy implications of the survey’s findings and offers suitable recommendations.
