Description

Cambodia and Indonesia share their implementation of best practices on tourism as part of Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) by ASEAN members.  The significance of tourism is growing, as it accounted for 4.6% of ASEAN GDP in 2011.  For Cambodia, establishing tourist infrastructure, laws and regulations and a website were some of their successes.  It was the first ASEAN member to establish a National Committee for Tourism Professionals.   Indonesia also strengthened its tourism infrastructure, which led to better industry collaboration and awareness and use of MRA resources.  Both governments have witnessed successes by proactively implementing best practices as recommended by the MRA.
