Background
In Singapore, Institute of Technical Education and the Polytechnics, overseen by the Poly-ITE (POLITE) EdTech Committee came up with a home-based learning playbook to provide measures of adaptive strategies to ensure continuity of learning from home, maintain academic standards and support mental well-being for lecturers, students and parents during COVID school closures.
The HBL playbook offers lecturers practical insights and pedagogy strategies to facilitate effective HBL virtual instruction, helps students stay committed in learning through contingency plans and empower parents to support and facilitate their children's learning at home.
Post-covid, HBL has evolved from an emergency measure into a deliberate and structured part of curriculum delivery in the Institute of Higher Learnings (IHLs). The focus has shifted towards improving learner engagement and equipping educators with practical strategies for effective blended instruction, as part of sustainable technology-integrated teaching and learning .
