Adapting and Integrating the ASEAN In-Company Trainer Standard in Thailand
Realizing the importance of quality in-company training, Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (TPQI), a public workforce development organization, integrated the ASEAN In-Company Trainer Standard into Thailand’s national qualification system.
Ms Jullada Meejul (Deputy Director General of TPQI) and Ms Siriporn Parvikam (Programme Component Manager of GIZ Thailand) will share their experience about this collaborative effort involving several large institutions: Thai Chamber of Commerce; Federation of Thai Industries; The Department of Skills Development in the Thai Ministry of Labor; King Mongkut University of Technology; Rajamangula University of Technology; Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology; German-Thai Chamber of Commerce and GIZ.
Existing training courses could be aligned to the ASEAN In-Company Trainer Standard (defined as a series of competencies). TPQI brought together local stakeholders to draft new competencies specific to Thai sector needs in alignment with other ASEAN Member States. This example shows the practical adaptation and integration of new competencies: what was done to adapt national competence requirements to international frameworks.
