Brunei Ministry of Education launches its first TVET report

Borneo Bulletin, Brunei (02 December, 2020) - The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) 2019 Report in commemoration of 50 years of the establishment of TVET in Brunei was launched on December 1st 2020, giving policymakers and stakeholders access to information necessary to improve TVET and align it with the job market.

Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman launched the report in a ceremony at the School of Aviation, Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus in Berakas.

This is the first time the Brunei Ministry of Education has prepared a TVET development overview for the sultanate. 

Acting Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) who is also advisor of the Brunei Darussalam TVET Report 2019, Dr Chin Wei Keh said, the report available online on MoE’s website features the entire landscape development of TVET in Brunei.

At the launch, Dr Chin shared the ministry’s hopes to see stakeholders make use of the information presented and draw insights from the report to help strengthen TVET’s role in developing quality human capital particularly within the education-employment linkage.

Following the launch of the report and a video presentation, the minister presented the report to selected stakeholders and certificates of appreciation to the report’s working group and production team.
