Increasing the number of skilled workforce in Cambodia is a key element that needs to be addressed urgently in the Kingdom according to Vongsey Vissoth, the Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Cambodia is facing a structural economic issue, which include the lack of economic diversification, competitiveness and productivity, which remains an economic challenge in the region. The issues at hand will need greater institutional collaboration, according to the permanent secretary.

A technical and vocational training skills development programme, titled The Skills Development Fund, has been developed by demand for the country. The drive to develop the programme is to increase the number of skilled workers in Cambodia.

The push for further developments in TVET programmes is to mitigate the risks to jobs in Cambodia as the Kingdom heads towards Industry 4.0.
