INDONESIA. Antara News (03 July 2026) The Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education continues to enhance the competencies and global networks of courses and training centers to prepare a workforce capable of competing professionally in the global job market.

Tatang Muttaqin, the ministry's director general of secondary and special education, emphasized in Jakarta on Friday that courses and training centers are uniquely positioned to respond swiftly to job market demands.

This agility is driven by their flexible, competency-based training programs designed to keep pace with industry developments.

"Courses and training play a highly strategic role in preparing a workforce ready to enter the job market, as well as upskilling the existing workforce,” he said.

He noted that employment opportunities are no longer limited to the domestic market but are opening up widely across various countries in need of competent labor.

According to Tatang, graduates of Indonesian training centers must make the most of these opportunities. Therefore, structured efforts to strengthen the quality of these institutions must remain a continuous priority.

This is being pursued by aligning curricula with industry needs, increasing hands-on practical experience for students, strengthening instructor competencies, and expanding partnerships with businesses, industries, and international partners.

“That way, graduates will not only meet national competency standards but also satisfy the expectations of the international job market,” he explained.

He added that fields such as spa therapy and caregiving are among the core strengths of these training centers, with high demand in various countries.

He further said that both occupations require a workforce that is not only technically competent but also possesses a strong work ethic, integrity, solid communication skills, and empathy for service recipients.

Meanwhile, Yaya Sutarya, the ministry's director for courses and training, affirmed that his office is committed to pushing sustainable quality improvement of the courses and training centers.

This step is being realized through the development of industry-based curricula, the strengthening of competency certifications, the upgrading of the capacity of educators and instructional staff, and the expansion of partnerships with businesses and industries, including global partners.
