Bandar Seri Begawan, 13 December 2025 – Her Honourable Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education, Brunei Darussalam, paid an official visit to the TVET Regional Centre, SEAMEO VOCTECH, on 13 December 2025. The visit, conducted in her capacity as SEAMEO Council President for the term 2025-2027 reflects the role's official mandate to strengthen regional cooperation among SEAMEO Member Countries.

As part of this SEAMEO mandate, Her Honourable Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah undertakes courtesy calls and official visits to SEAMEO Regional Centres and Networks, reinforcing partnerships and advancing shared goals in education and human resource development across Southeast Asia.

Her Honourable Datin Seri Setia Dr. Hajah Romaizah was welcomed by SEAMEO VOCTECH Centre Director, Mr. Haji Norjemee Jenek upon her visit. In attendance at the event, were  Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education Brunei Darussalam (for Core Education), and the SEAMEO High Official to Brunei, Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati, Deputy Permanent Secretary (for Higher Education), Dr. Chin Wei Keh, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Corporate, Dr. Hajah Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu, SV Governing Board Chairman, Dr. Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli and senior officials of the ministry, joined by the Centre’s management, specialists, officers and staff.  

During the visit, Her Honourable and accompanying distinguished delegation received presentations on the Centre’s key achievements for Fiscal Year 2024–2025. These accomplishments include the successful delivery of 33 training programmes and one regional forum, alongside significant research outputs such as, The Employability of Vocational Graduates in the Agri-Food Sector in ASEAN, under the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package - Higher Education (SCOPE-HE) Programme, The Smart Education Readiness Index, and the ongoing “Green Education Readiness Index”. The briefing also underscored the Centre’s role as host of the TVET regional knowledge hub SEA-VET.net, supported by its strategic partner, GIZ-RECOTwin.

Presentations of SEAMEO VOCTECH activity highlights and milestones.

As the Centre charts its course for the Fiscal Year 2025-2026, it outlined a series of strategic initiatives including four highly relevant forums already successfully held in the latter half of 2025. These comprise the Centre’s Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit 2025, along with fora and a conference addressing the integration of artificial intelligence in education and advancing digital and green transitions.  

To commemorate this significant occasion, a tree planting ceremony was held at the SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre, marking the official visit of Her Honourable Minister of Education Brunei and SEAMEO Council President. The ceremony was witnessed by senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam and SEAMEO VOCTECH.
