Article
Melaka, Malaysia – 12 June 2025 — The ASEAN TVET Council held its 4th Regional Policy Dialogue: “TVET for Rural and Regional Advancement” from 11–12 June, attracting over 220 participants from ASEAN ministries, TVET providers, industry, and development agencies, both in person and online.
Hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Rural and Regional Development and supported by the ASEAN Secretariat, the Aus4ASEAN Digital Transformation & Future Skills Initiative (Australia), and RECOTwin (Germany), the dialogue focused on:
- Inclusive Access: Strategies to broaden TVET availability in rural and regional communities;
- Green & Digital Skills: Developing training aligned with environmental sustainability and emerging technologies;
- Curriculum–Industry Alignment: Ensuring TVET programmes meet current and future labour market needs.
On 12 June, the ASEAN Secretariat launched a new Study Report titled “Promotion of Business Engagement Models for Upskilling and Reskilling the ASEAN Workforce.” With guidance from SLOM and support from Aus4ASEAN, the study investigates how ASEAN businesses are responding to Industry 4.0 and the green economy through workforce development. It emphasises the need for robust partnerships between industry, governments, and TVET institutions.
