Transformative Power of AI Discussed at UTB Symposium

Brunei Darussalam. Borneo Bulletin (02 July 2024) - A symposium on artificial intelligence (AI) was held yesterday at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), highlighting its transformative effects and its role in improving operational efficiency and driving innovation.

“AI is already embedded in what we do. AI is already here, and it is important to make it as part of our lives as well,” said Shell’s General Manager of Digital Innovation Hariharasudhan Ramani during his keynote presentation at the ‘AI and Digital Transformation’ symposium.

UTB Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Student, Alumni and Services) Dr Au Thein Wan said, “It is important to instil a forward-thinking mindset in embracing digital innovation".

“Harnessing AI through collaborations can unlock new levels of innovation and impact. Whether through partnerships between companies, collaborations between industries, or alliances with academic and research institutions, working together can accelerate innovation and amplify the benefits of AI.”

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Dr Chin Wei Keh, representing the permanent secretary at the MoE, was the guest of honour. UTB Vice-Chancellor Datin Paduka Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman was also present. – James Kon
