MALAYSIA. Digital News Asia (05 September 2023)The edutech platform of Capital A, airasia academy, recently welcomed a visit by the Malaysian minister of Human Resources, V. Sivakumar and his delegation to airasia academy’s training and learning centre where the two parties held formal discussions with airasia academy led by its CEO Aireen Omar.

The visit and discussions were to further solidify the goals and objectives outlined in a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) signed between them in March.

In a statement, airasia academy said one of the key objectives was to fortify the skill sets of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) students, while also enhancing the digital and soft skills of MOHR staff.

Aireen, who is also president (Investment & Ventures) Capital A, said: "The minister’s visit underscores his unwavering support for developing and equipping Malaysia’s workforce with the necessary skills and knowledge in the digital era, aimed at enhancing the employability of TVET talents.”

“airasia academy is committed to advancing Malaysia's digital economy by empowering individuals with the skills required to thrive in the Industrial Revolution 4.0. Our collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources is a resolute step towards upskilling and reskilling Malaysians with the requisite proficiencies. Together, we are poised to make a resounding impact on skills development and economic growth,” she added.

Furthermore, as an integral part of the broader airasia ecosystem, airasia academy collaborates closely with its sister companies within the Capital A group, including its Superapp’s airasia ride to enhance the portfolios of TVET talents. This collaborative effort extends its support not only to traditional career pathways but also to the growing gig economy workforce.

For example, airasia ride drivers have the opportunity to upskill and reskill themselves by participating in training and learning programmes provided by airasia academy, allowing them to advance their careers in the digital and tech sectors. Through these initiatives, airasia academy demonstrates its commitment to enhancing the skills and prospects of TVET talent, contributing to their holistic development within the ever-evolving employment landscape, aligned with the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

In addition, airasia academy has recently partnered with the National Social Security Organization (PERKESO) to offer essential digital and soft skills training through Program Bina Kerjaya Sektor Tidak Formal (Informal Sector Career Development), a programme designed to connect gig workers with formal employment opportunities, thereby illuminating their path toward multifaceted career growth.
