Background
On 1st October 2020, the ARMECS Bridging Programme under the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) Construction was officially launched by the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy, Brunei.
The initiative is a collaboration of the MISC Construction, the Ministry of Development, regulators, education institutions and companies in the construction industries.
Comprising the ARMECS, is Bridging Programme in Draughting and the ARMECS Bridging Programme in RCC-Visor (Construction Site Supervisor), the training programme aims to close the gap between the knowledge and skills obtained by graduates during their technical education and the construction industry’s requirements.
The programme also aims to equip qualified local graduates with the skills and experience to work professionally in the construction industry. Trainees will be exposed to three disciplines in the construction sector: Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical, and Civil and Structural.
ARMECS Bridging Programme
The ARMECS Bridging Program is an industry-based training program aimed to enhance the local graduates' employability for the construction industry.
The 6-months Training program is designed to enrich the graduates with hands-on skills and competencies.
The acronym "ARMECS" stands for Architect - Mechanical & Electrical - Civil & Structural. At this stage, 2 programs will be run which are ARMECS Draughting and ARMECS RCC-Visor. The graduate trainees will be trained by experts from Construction Firms under i-Ready apprenticeship scheme.
ARMECS Draughting is an Industry-Based Training Program designed to enrich the graduates with hands-on skills and competency in Computer Aided Draughting in three (3) Different disciplines, that is, Architectural, Mechanical, & Electrical and civil & Structural, trained by the experts for the construction industry.
The program aims to meet the requirement of the construction industry for more enjoyable graduates. The objective is to enhance the graduate's employability as Draughtsman.
The graduate trainees will undergo a structure training program. The training delivery will be based on 20% on attainment of Awareness and knowledge and 80% on experience in Draughting skills in the three (3) disciplines.

ARMECS Draughting targets those students who have just graduated or unemployed graduates in the following areas:

- Politeknik Brunei (PB) Level 5 Diploma in Interior Design
- Politeknik Brunei (PB) Level 5 Diploma in Architecture
- IBTE Level 4 HNTec in Design and Draughting
- IBTE Level 4 HNTec in Construction Engineering or
- Any other disciplines relevant to the above form local and international institutions

Having completed the ARMECS Draughting training program, the graduate trainees should be:
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Industry ready
- Experience in draughting of real-life projects
- Well Aware of the expectation of the employer
- Experience in working environment
- Draughting in 3 different disciplines in the construction industry
- No or minimal training when employed after completing ARMECS training
ARMECS RCC-Visor
ARMECS RCC-Visor which is an acronym that stands for Resident Technical Officer (RTOf), Company Site Representative (CSRep) and Clerk of Works (CoW) as Supervisor, is an Industry-Based Training program designed to enrich the graduates with hands-on skills and competency in Supervising Construction site works and quality control trained by the industry experts for the construction industry.
This program aims to meet the requirement of the construction industry for more employable graduates that will suit positions as RTOf, CSRep and CoW.
The graduate trainees will undergo a structured training program. The training delivery will be based on 20% on attainment of Awareness and Knowledge and 80% to gain Experience in supervising and quality control of construction site works in the (3) three different disciplines.
