About the Event

The ASEAN Declaration on Human Resources Development for the Changing World of Work was adopted by the 36th ASEAN Summit on 26 June 2020. The Declaration calls for the development of a roadmap for its implementation through concrete strategies and actions that will complement the work plans of the ASEAN Labour Ministers Meeting (ALMM), ASEAN Education Ministers Meeting (ASED), ASEAN TVET Council (ATC) and other relevant sectoral bodies.

The Roadmap translates the commitments in the ASEAN Declaration on Human Resources Development for the Changing World of Work into concrete actions that contribute to the attainment of the ASEAN Vision 2025 of a people-oriented, people-centred ASEAN Community where our peoples enjoy higher quality of life and the benefits of community building. This Roadmap also supports one of the key purposes of ASEAN, as stipulated in the ASEAN Charter, which is to develop human resources through closer cooperation in education and lifelong learning, and in science, technology, for the empowerment of the peoples of ASEAN and for the strengthening of the ASEAN Community.
