1st WorldSkills Asia Competition

Established in 2017, ‘WorldSkills Asia’ is a non-profit member association of WorldSkills that has its secretariat in Abu Dhabi. It strives to be the Asian hub for skills excellence and development, particularly for Asian youth, by congregating member countries from all across Asia.

WorldSkills Asia works within the four focus areas of Skills Promotion, Skills Competitions, Education and Training, and International Cooperation. In line with this, ‘WorldSkills Asia Competition’ has been approved as a biennial competition to be held every even year in one of the member countries of WorldSkills Asia.

Abu Dhabi is hosting the very first competition of WorldSkills Asia in November, 2018. It encourages wide Asian participation and continues to welcome Asian nations to join its membership.

Objective

The main objectives of the competition are to:

• Promote excellence in the field of skills and competency development; and
• Raise awareness of the importance of professional excellence and high-quality vocational education and training for Asian youth and economies.
