INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: DIGITALISING AND GREENING TVET FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

About the Event
“DIGITALISING AND GREENING OF TVET SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”
To stay relevant, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) must be responsive to the fast-changing technology and workplace requirements and, at the same time, be cognisant of the environmental sustainability. Thus, to build a sustainable system and to prepare for a seamless digital transition of TVET in the region, there needs to be a revamp of policies, development of new qualifications and attainment of new skills. This is important, as across the region there is a wide gap between existing skills that may be fast becoming obsolete and those direly needed for both digital and green economies to flourish. Thus, it is imperative for efforts toward digitalisation and reshaping of the TVET system to integrate green technologies in producing a skilled workforce ready for employability in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (VUCA) world. To produce a quality skilled workforce, it is the shared responsibility of all TVET stakeholders, especially industries, to continuously support and ensure that VET institutions stay resilient, relevant and robust.
The International Conference was officiated by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) Ministry of Education, Thailand, Dr. Pichet Popakdee and His Excellency Pengiran Sahari Pengiran Salleh The Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Kingdom of Thailand. Four panel discussions involving representatives of SEAMEO member countries, Strategic Partners and the Industry, in addition to keynote speakers that were delivered by the representatives of University of Bremen, Germany; International Labour Organisation (ILO), Thailand; and UNEVOC Center, Hong Kong.
