WHAT IS INITIATE?

The INITIATE Human Capital Summit 2022 is an initiative by Perspective Insan Academy and Grominda Group to create a Summit specifically to benefit the Human Capital Development in Brunei. This Summit is intended to gather and engage HR practitioners’ in Brunei, promote self-competency through hard and soft skills and to discover the best HR practices from Industry experts.

According to the Department of Economic Development (JPKE) the total number of employed persons was 221,700 persons, and local workers accounted for 66.5 per cent (147,400 persons). The share of employment by type of economic activity showed that the services sector dominated, particularly in public administration at 19.0 per cent with 42,000 persons in 2019.

In a Titah by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with Brunei’s 37th National Day Celebration which read:

“Bangsa yang merdeka, tidak boleh lalai atau lambat bertindak, kerana persekitaran bukan statik, tetapi cepat berubah, dan perubahan itulah namanya 'perkembangan'.

"Bangsa merdeka, mesti mengikuti perkembangan dan mencipta kemajuan. Kemajuan itu terbahagi dua: Kemajuan fizikal dan kemajuan spiritual. Kemajuan fizikal dicapai dengan teknologi dan tulang empat kerat, sementara kemajuan spiritual pula digarap dengan belajar dan praktikal ibadat.

Inilah cara kita mengisi kemerdekaan, iaitu dengan menjana kemajuan fizikal, sejajar dengan kemajuan spiritual. Kedua-duanya mesti berjalan seiring untuk memenuhi tuntutan negara.

Maka untuk itu, kita perlu memiliki modal insan yang gigih dan berkualiti, yang berpendidikan duniawi dan ukhrawi serta mampu untuk menangani segala cabaran.”

Referring to the above Titah, His Majesty emphasises on having a quality human capital. This is in line with the objective of the INITIATE Human Capital Summit 2022 which will be held on Thursday, 19 May 2022.
