Greater number of TVET Multipliers fit for “Industry 4.0” and “Quality Development”
96 multipliers from Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions from 10 ASEAN countries and Timor Leste have been trained to enhance strategic technical and didactical learning and teaching methodology on work-processes curricula for technological advancement and quality development.
After the launching of Regional Training of Multipliers Module 1 on Innovative Teaching and Learning due to Technological Changes and Module 2 on the Professional Development Training for TVET Teachers in Industry 4.0, the Regional Cooperation Programme to Improve the Quality and Labour Market Orientation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (RECOTVET), in close collaboration with SEAMEO VOCTECH, joined hands to carry on the training of Module 3 and 4 for 48 TVET multipliers from 10 ASEAN Member States and Timor Leste during 7-15 October 2019 at the Bureau of Personnel Competency Development under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission in Bangkok.
The Regional Training of Multipliers Module 3 enhanced the capacity of multipliers in Curriculum Design for Industry 4.0 Work Process. Twenty-three competent multipliers from 11 countries were trained on how to design and develop work process-oriented curricula in response to Industry 4.0. The module developed participants’ abilities to carry through a work process analysis for curriculum development and apply the self-reliant learning model in developing competence responding to labour market needs. Complementary to the training, multipliers in Module 3 had an opportunity for a half-day site visit to Wangnoi Beverage Co., Ltd, in Ayutthaya province, where the multipliers exposed themselves to automation and modern technology of beverage production, which requires future skills of workforce.
Happening in parallel, the other 22 multipliers participated in Module 4 under the topic of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Development (QD) in TVET Institutions. This Module demonstrated the multipliers in introducing and setting up a quality assurance system in their respective institutions.
During the course, the Quality Management (QM) was introduced, taking into account the framework and QA models from other countries. The multipliers exchanged and developed their knowledge by stimulating daily group discussions on the QA cycle (PDCA) and QA system approach (Input-Process-Output) and group presentations, which strengthened the solid foundation of their knowledge on QA&QD.
Both training modules’ activities were carried out in groups consisting of a mixture of multipliers from different countries. High participation was constantly noticed during the 7-day training, leading to satisfactory results.
The last assignment involved creating a training plan tailored to their own countries. On the last day, the participants were proven to be sufficiently equipped with the competencies described in the Learn and Work Assignments (LWAs) curricula through a presentation of the country training plan. Feedbacks from experts were provided upon the presentation to ensure its practicality. The adapted curricula and training plans of each country will be continuously followed up by the programme.
After the In-Service training modules 2019, Module 5 under the topic of Industry and TVET Institutions linkages is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 4-12 November.
Ninety-six Regional Multipliers from 10 ASEAN countries and Timor Leste were trained during August – October 2019. Brunei Darussalam, Timor Leste and Thailand have adapted the training to train 90 TVET Managers and Teachers in their own countries.
