Shifting needs of ASEAN’s labor market and skills development efforts to meet market demands

Thailand Today (24 September, 2021) - Thailand Today powered by NBT World invited the Regional Cooperation Programme for Technical and Vocational Education and Training in ASEAN’s (RECOTVET) Programme Director Mr. Ingo Imhoff, and Programme Component Manager Mrs. Siriporn Parvikam to speak on the shifting needs of ASEAN’s labor market and efforts to better equip those entering the workforce.
In the special episode, Mr. Ingo shared how effectively running the TVET system has provided youth from low-income background with employment and the ability to integrate effectively into the labour market. He further stated, that in many ASEAN member states, there has been a tally of ongoing reforms to get the TVET systems to the level where they perform at their best, which implies to the quality improvement of TVET institutions and improving the quality of teaching outcomes that is in line not only with the expectations of the students and their parents, but also companies.
