Empowering ASEAN 4.0

ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) in cooperation with the German government's Regional Cooperation Programme in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (RECOTVET) jointly organize the symposium “Empowering ASEAN 4.0: Implications of Industry 4.0 for Skills Development Strategies of Business and Industry”. TThe symposium is one of several activities that explore the challenges and opportunities of Industry 4.0 for human resource development, organised by ASEAN-BAC during Thailand's chairmanship of ASEAN. The activities will culminate in the legacy project 'ASEAN Human Empowerment and Development' (AHEAD).

The inevitable disruption of technology is forcing existing jobs to change while creating new ones with different skillsets requirements. Consequently, besides enjoying vast opportunities that Industry 4.0 presents, businesses need to recognize the importance of reskilling and upskilling the workforce to be fit for the fourth industrial revolution. With this theme, the symposium is an opportunity for business leaders to discuss and share solutions to the reskilling challenges. The symposium will introduce state-of-the-art scientific research and analytical data on prospects and challenges toward human resource in the digital age as well as featuring trailblazing solutions and potential contributions business community can do to embrace changes.

The symposium will be organized on 20 March 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, accommodating a maximum of 100 participants, mainly from business membership organisations and companies from all 10 ASEAN member states.
