Finalising hands-on training and materials for Environment Projection, Energy and Resource Efficiency
In frame of the Vietnamese-German "Programme Reform of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Viet Nam" the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) is advised to become a Centre of Excellence for Green TVET providing initial and advanced training for a greening economy. Particularly, VCMI is supported in developing and piloting a basic module “environmental protection, energy and resource efficiency” as well as in providing advanced training for teaching and management staff of other training institutes in Viet Nam and the CLMV countries.
Following up a workshop in July 2018, a four-day workshop was prepared and conducted at VCMI from 11 to 14 September 2018 to develop lesson plans, teaching materials and ideas for assessments. Participants are teachers from VCMI, Ho Chi Minh City Vocational College of Technology (HVCT) and High-Tech Vocational College of Dong Nai.
During the workshop, the participants were informed more detailed on the topics of the basic module on Environmental Protection, Energy and Resource Efficiency. The drafts of lesson plans were reflected with the consultant and revised. Intention and approach of the lessons were focussed on teaching practical skills. The macro teaching and learning method “exploration” was introduced, prepared, executed, self-assessed and evaluated. A range of different micro methods was introduced and exemplarily tried out by participants and the form of the final assessment of the learners’ learning outcomes was coordinated.
After the workshop, the core groups of teachers working on 3 sub-topics in the basic module namely Handling Hazardous Chemical, Waste Management and Energy and Resource Efficiency continue to work under the support of the GIZ international consultant to finalise the training programme, lesson plans, teaching and assessment materials.
This activity is held within the component “Support for Centres of Excellence for TVET” as part of the Vietnamese-German “Programme Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The programme is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
