Dipolog City, July 10 (PIA) -- Twenty-five inmates of Dipolog City Jail are currently undergoing a training on Basic  Electrical Wiring provided by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through Nilo F. Aliser.

The trainees are among the 408 inmates of the city who are mostly involved in illegal drugs.

According to TESDA Provincial Director Engr. Alan T. Bacatan, the training will transform the inmates into productive members of the community someday. The training which started last July 5 and conducted from Monday to Friday  will end on July 21.

Dipolog City Jail Officer-in-Charge, Jail Inspector Marben D. Cortes lauded TESDA for bringing their programs to the inmates to prepare themselves as they return to their community after serving their sentence.

Cortes said through the training given by TESDA, the inmates will regain confidence in themselves, forget the kind of lives they have experienced inside the reformatory center and become productive members of the community.

TESDA is the government agency tasked to manage and supervise technical education and skills development (TESD) in the Philippines. It serves as the Philippines' Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) authority.   It was created by virtue of Republic Act 7796, otherwise known as the “Technical Education and Skills Development Act of 1994.” (ALT/ATR/PIA9-Zamboanga del Norte)
