Job-matching website for vocational graduates and school leavers
The Star, Malaysia (11 October, 2020) - Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI), has introduced Prokerja – a website that offers job opportunities as production operators in the automotive and manufacturing sectors to vocational college graduates or SPM leavers.
Prokerja aims to increase the mobility of the nation’s skilled local workforce by optimising youth participation through a more targeted and systematic job matching and placement approach. The programme began in 2012 and to date, over 33,000 youths have been trained under it.
According to CEO of MARii, Datuk Madani Sahari, past graduates of the programme have been successfully placed in the industry as production operators earning monthly salaries ranging from RM1,500 to RM2,000.
Trainees will receive the IPC after completing the first month of classes and will be awarded the Industry-Led Professional Certificate – Advanced Apprenticeship Programme (IPC-AAP) after completing five months of practical training. Both are industry-recognised certificates accredited by MARii.
