1,000 vocational training centers (BLK) are planned on being built in Indonesia.

This is part of the Ministry of Manpower's effort towards human resource development. Ida Fauziyah, the Minister, signed a cooperation agreement in BLK Community Assistance Phase 1 of 2020 in support of this effort.

Human resource development is one of the priority programmes highlighted by President Joko Widodo. Increasing vocational training by building a community of BLKs is one way to achieve this.

The community BLK program was launched in 2017 to provide additional skills or hard skills to students at religious education institutions. This would also complement their soft skills and character education.

Initially, the government planned to build 2,000 community BLK for 2020. However, due to COVID-19 the number was revised to 1,000.

Finance will be given to institutions that receive community BLK assistance. This will help with the construction of workshop building units and equipment needed for vocational training.

A total of 24 vocational training courses were developed at community BLKs in 2020.
