Borneo Bulletin, Brunei (22 June, 2021) - Twenty-six participants attended the first of a four-day virtual regional training programme on integrating 21st Century industry competencies in the curriculum at the SEAMEO-Voctech (SV) Regional Centre in Brunei. 

SEAMEO VOCTECH Centre Director Mr. Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar said, “Together, as knowledge and skill providers, we need to ensure we remain relevant, equipped with the essential competencies to provide students with the relevant 21st Century and industry competencies that will make them employable, and thus contribute to the development and economic well-being of their communities and the society.”

The programme is designed to provide participants with skills in identifying relevant competencies meeting the needs of the 21st Century workplace, particularly on the competency identification process and integration of these competencies into the TVET Curriculum.

Mr. Alias expressed appreciation to SV Governing Board Member from Vietnam Dr Bui Trung Thanh and SV Desk Officers from TESDA-Philippines for their support.

Programme participants comprise principals, administrators, supervisors, instructors and curriculum development facilitators from SEAMEO member countries, including eight participants from Univeristi Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Technology Brunei (UTB), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE), Politeknik Brunei (PB), Department of Special Education, Department of Higher Education and Department of Curriculum Development from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Brunei Darussalam.
